Make and paint three-dimensional sculptures! Starting from a reflection on "What is the best part of me?" students will sculpt a body part that they like, while learning how to draft a regular hexagon (the sculpture base) using a protractor and learning how polymers form in the salt clay sculpting material. Next, a color wheel activity introduces color theory and offers inspiration for painting the sculpture.
If you'd like to share your sculpture, you can also participate in the art show "Youth Exhibit: Facets A Part," which will be scheduled when Cruces Creatives reopens.
This bilingual kit was developed with generous financial support from the Las Cruces Arts Association and the New Mexico STEM Outreach Center.
