Interested in making your own clothes?  Curious about how to use the pattern design software at the makerspace? Come make this simple unisex top, which will not only become a staple in your wardrobe, but will also serve as an excellent base to explore your own color block or embellishment ideas.

In this 3 day session students will:

• Learn the basics of using our garment pattern software to create a bespoke pattern based on your own body
• Be able to take home their printed pattern
• Discuss basic principles of how to select fabric appropriate for clothing
• Learn basic skills for cutting out fabric, pinning, pressing, heming, and using a facing
• Complete the “working muslin” (the fit test garment that is good enough to wear)
• Explore ideas on how to modify the pattern for color block, hemline and neckline adjustments 
• Depending on your working speed, you may even have time to design and complete a second top.

While experience making clothes is not necessary, this class assumes that you have some experience with a sewing machine. I assume that you are able to thread the sewing machine and understand its basic operation.

Cruces Creatives members will be able to use the fabric in the Textile Lab for their top.  If you are not a member, you will need to purchase fabric to bring with you, or you can make a donation of $10 at the time of class to use inhouse fabric. Please contact Sandy with questions.

Cruces Creatives members have access to the pattern drafting software as part of their membership and are welcome to use it outside class time.
