This class is intended for brand new sewists so there are no prerequisites!Students will learn the basics of threading and using the sewing machine while making their very own tote bag. This is a great class for getting started, or for continuing to practice your new sewing abilities.
Skills learned in this class:
How to thread the sewing machine
Basic operation of sewing machine
How to sew a steady seam allowance
Foundation piecing technique for building the bag body
Topstitching technique
How to pin and stitch a hem
How to select and use different stitch types
All materials are provided.
Students should wear closed toe shoes in class.

Thanks to Funding from the City of Las Cruces and the American Rescue Plan Act we are able to offer this class free of cost to all Title One students who attend schools in Las Cruces, otherwise it would cost $49.00.
Title One schools include all of the Las Cruces Public Schools, White Sands Schools, Mesilla Valley Leadership Academy, Arrowhead Park, Alma d'Arte, J Paul Taylor Academy, La Academia Dolores Huerta, Los Montanas, New America, RaĆces Del Saber.
