Intended for new sewists, participants in this class will do best if they have used a sewing machine before.

Students will use the sewing machine to create a flat bottom tote bag (think along the lines of a paper grocery bag) with a decorated outer pocket.

Skills learned in this class include:

  • How to maintain seam allowances
  • How to pin and sew a hem
  • Topstitching techniques
  • Techniques for “boxing bags”
  • Techniques for sewing on straps to resist tearing
  • How to select and use different stitch types

All materials are provided.

Students should wear closed toe shoes in class.

These classes are very popular, if you are unable to attend after registering, please inform Sandy Smith so she can open the spot to someone on the waitlist! She can be reached at s.smith@crucescreatives.org.
